At the age of ten, Phoenix made his acting debut in the television series Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

On October 31, 1993, Phoenix's promising life came to an abrupt and tragic end. After several days of indulging in cocaine and heroin, the actor collapsed outside Hollywood's Viper Room nightclub.
